Wizard101

Wizard101 is a free to play MMORPG set in the fictional world of Spiral where players join a school for magic and choose between different magic types to gain access to a specific set of spells. The universe of Spiral has a total of 13 worlds and players combat in a turn-based dueling system similar to many trading card games. With a rating of E10+, the game is more centered around children and contains some crude humor and mild violence. The game includes numerous safety features intended to protect their younger players, including parental-activation, chat restrictions, and crumbling creatures that do not bleed. Wizard101 has 7 playable magic schools including ones such as Ice, Storm, Fire, and Death and each school comes with its own unique spells. A sister to Pirate101, the game centers around duels, in which two teams of up to four players or computers draw cards and play them to deal damage, heal, or a variety of support actions like increasing shields. The free-to-play model offers three modes of advancing: purchasing Crowns to unlock a new area, renting a zone for a set number of hours, or paying a subscription free to have unlimited access to all areas for the length of the subscription. The PVP arena of the game requires an entry fee, also purchasable through Crowns. Along with the main story of the game, you also have access to hobbies, like fishing, and crafting with resources. If you are looking for a protected environment to introduce your child to MMOs with a card-based dueling system, take a glance at Wizard101. (Available on Windows)
